Inspired by fallen soldier, Glenview man collects jerseys for kids overseas

Soccer dad James Thurston is trying to collect at least 1,000 gently used jerseys to send to kids in Iraq and Afghanistan.

In fact, the Glenview man also will happily accept almost any kind of soccer gear that might help youngsters play the game there.

Sgt. Jordan Sawyer has written eloquently about his experiences in Iraq including the distribution of soccer balls from Kick For Nick. In addition he has taken many wonderful photos of our soldiers and the children of Iraq who have received the balls.

KZFR of Chico, CA Runs Soccer Ball Collection
